Course Description
This training program is for both novice and experienced learners. These people will operate an Excavator when performing their daily duties.
Excavator Training Assessment
The assessment complies with specified standards. Certificates and Operator licenses are issued to learners who demonstrate competence to the required standard.
Excavator Training Course Content
What is an excavator?
Most common excavator types 2 (crawler, wheeled, mini-excavators, etc.)
Excavator Function in construction and excavation projects.
Understanding components to check on a daily basis during the pre-start or pre-operating checks.
Functions and importance of each part (e.g., boom, bucket, tracks).
Familiarity with the different controls and their functions
Walk Around Checks
Pre-starting Checks
Pre-operating Checks
Site Safety Regulations and Protocols.
Hazards Identification or Risk Zones
Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) for excavator operators.
Pivot turn, Backhoe operation, Spin or Spot Turn, Ditching Operation.
Loading Haul Trucks
Excavating, digging, and trenching techniques.
Loading and dumping materials.
Grading and levelling with an excavator.
Transporting excavator to and from site.
Methods of loading an excavator for transport
Obeying all site rules
Being a team player

Requirements
- ID or Passport
- Minimum level of education: Grade 9
- CV ( for job assistance )
- Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
- Old license and certificate (for renewals or recertification)
Excavator Training available in Pretoria, Johannesburg, Durban, Mpumalanga, Rustenburg, and Limpopo. We also admit international students.
Excavator operators are required to:
Carry out the correct pre-starting and pre–operating checks.
Tell the maintenance supervisor when there is a fault that requires immediate attention.
Ensure lights, rotating hazard lights, windows and mirrors are clean.
Ensure track tension is correct.
Ensure lights, sirens and back-up alarms are working properly.
Do not exceed the safe speed for the activity being undertaken.
Always mount and dismount the machine using three points of contact on the handrails, grab irons and steps, and always face the machine.
Always be aware of the presence of pedestrians. Keep to designated routes.
Always observe all site signs and signals.
Always operate the excavator with extreme care.
Always wear the correct personal protective equipment
